Hospital

The patients sit in listless rows,
as worry and discomfort grows,
while everyone is waiting to be seen.
A man whose name is called is led,
through swinging doors towards a bed,
aware of what his test results might mean.

I have stressful memories of my father visiting the hospital on several occasions for his heart condition. Anxiety still rises up within me when I think of it, even though it was many years ago.
