Kitchen Window

Kitchen Window
The slamming heaviness of stress,
and deadlines padlocked to my mind,
discarded and the sharp duress
of caustic words are left behind.

The kitchen window shows a view
of monolithic limbs that sway;
a solemn dance against the blue
horizon of a quiet day,

as motionless, lethargic still,
I sit and watch the ancient dance,
divested of the stoic will
to turn and redirect my glance,

towards a more productive theme;
to work and patiently create
a graphic from a hazy dream
as pictures in my mind rotate.

While minutes drip with quickened speed,
and time is draining from the cup,
I brace my purpose to proceed
with firm endeavour rising up.
