Broken Mirror

Broken Mirror

She stands before a mirror that is broken,
with jagged cracks distorting her reflection,
as if they were a cruel symbolic token,
of fractured dreams that plague her recollection.

She tried to keep her head above the water,
until depression threw a net and caught her,
and dragged her down to darkened depths of sorrow,
devoid of light or promise for tomorrow.
