They walk beneath the waning sun
while smoke is rising in the air.
The final battle has been won,
and they have gained the victors’ share.
When enemies attacked their lands
and led their shackled king away,
they rose in dauntless rebel bands,
to join the clashing grisly fray.
And while the war continued on,
their unrelenting king broke free,
and fought until the foe was gone;
compelled to turn around and flee.
Though now, the walls are broken down,
with pillaged homes destroyed and burned,
again they will rebuild their town,
for strident justice have returned.
