Together, silent, walking
near where the river flows.
No need for shallow talking;
the hidden bond still shows.
Remembering the mountains
and deserts we traversed,
and finding quenching fountains,
that ended days of thirst.
Beside you through the distance
of ever changing years,
entwined with my existence,
while crossing new frontiers.
Remaining near the river
to guide us as we go,
we watch the ripples quiver,
beneath the twilight glow.
