Bright Requiem

Bright Requiem

Flames reach up;
slender glowing hands,
stroke the temporal branches
with a searing caress.

A crescendo of brilliance
that rises and cascades
like teardrops of the sun,
falling and fading,
in quiet death.

Softly and silently,
a silver shroud of velvet ash
is cast upon
the dimming embers.
