River Song

River Song

She sits alone beside the river
watching rippled currents run.
Like swirling silk, they gleam and quiver,
shimmering beneath the sun.

The crystal harmony of water,
singing with a silver tongue,
towards the verdant bank has brought her,
with the afternoon yet young.

She gazes at the soft reflections
painted of the clouds and trees,
with drifting thoughts and recollections
rising from a mind at ease.

Yet still, it seems that time is rushing,
like the river’s onward flow,
towards the future swiftly gushing,
bidding her to rise and go.
