Receiving God’s Power for a Supernatural Life
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is one of the most powerful and life-changing gifts God has given to believers. It is not emotional excitement or religious experience. It is a divine empowerment from heaven that equips you to live, pray, and share your faith with supernatural power.
This guide will help you understand:
- What the baptism in the Holy Spirit is
- Why it is for every believer
- How to receive it
- How to cooperate with the Holy Spirit

God’s Promise of the Holy Spirit
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is not for a select few. It is for every believer.
“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.’” Acts 2:38~39
If you are born again, this promise is for you.
The Holy Spirit baptism is not something you earn. It is something you receive by faith.
God has already made the promise. Your part is simply to believe and receive what He has freely given.

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit Is Different from Salvation
Being born again brings you into God’s family. Additionally, being baptized in the Holy Spirit empowers you to live and serve in that family.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me” Acts 1:8
Salvation gives you eternal life. The baptism in the Holy Spirit gives you power for living, praying, and sharing your faith with others.
This is why New Testament believers who had already accepted salvation, were still encouraged to receive the Holy Spirit’s empowering presence.

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is Received by Faith
Just like salvation, you receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit through faith and not effort.
“That the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Galatians 3:14
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13
God is not withholding the Holy Spirit. You do not have to beg, plead, or wait.
You simply ask, believe, and receive, just as you did when you were saved.

Speaking in Tongues Is the Initial Evidence
When people in the New Testament received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, something happened outwardly that showed what God had done inwardly.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4
“For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.” Acts 10:46
Speaking in tongues is not something you make up. It is something the Holy Spirit gives you, but you must cooperate.
The Holy Spirit gives the words. You supply your voice and speak them out.
He will not force your mouth to move. You yield and allow Him to flow through you.

How to Receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
Be Born Again
The Holy Spirit baptism is for believers.
“He who believes in Me… out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38
Ask the Father
Ask simply and confidently.
“How much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13
Believe You Receive
God is faithful to give the Holy Spirit to you when you ask Him.
Begin to Speak
As the Holy Spirit give you words, speak them out loud. Do not wait for a feeling. Move by faith.
Prayer to Receive the Holy Spirit
If you are ready, pray this out loud:
Father God, I thank You that You have promised the Holy Spirit to every believer. So now I ask You to fill me with the Holy Spirit. I receive this gift by faith. I yield my voice and my tongue to You. Holy Spirit, fill me now and give me utterance. I believe I have received in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Now, begin to speak the words that rise up in your heart, even if they sound unfamiliar. That is the Holy Spirit flowing through you.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is God’s gift of power, prayer, and supernatural life. Receive it. Walk in it. And let God’s Spirit flow through you.
