Looking Back on a Challenging Year

Looking Back

Looking back on 2024, I find myself reflecting on a period that tested my resolve in unexpected ways. Without going into too much detail, I will say that this year provided numerous opportunities to develop increased perseverance. As the months unfolded, I found it very challenging to continue with patience in a very difficult environment.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2~4

It felt like an uphill battle as I held on to hope and prayed that change would come. The constant uncertainty and the need to prepare for any outcome was incredibly draining.

Looking Back

I was desperate for it all to be concluded. Eventually, after a protracted period, the whole process came to an end.

God once again displayed His kindness and faithfulness to us, as He always does. I should have learnt that by now! The difficulties we encountered were all resolved, even though they seemed insurmountable a few months ago.

Adversity has a way of refining us. Our resilience is strengthened as we allow ourselves to go through the process while maintaining our trust in God.

“May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.” Colossians 1:11

Looking back, I see 2024 as a victorious year, with a difficult season having been brought to a successful end. The transition from struggle to triumph has also left me with a prevailing sense of gratitude, reassurance and hope.

Looking towards the new year, I feel like the Holy Spirit is imparting a sense of excitement about what lies ahead.

Looking Back

Before us lies a road of bright possibility with the promise of a positive expectation for the future.

“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” Proverbs 4:18

My experiences of this past year have proved that the hardest moments can be overcome if we maintain our faith in what God promised.

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12

Trusting in God’s plan for our lives enables us to triumph over what is seemingly impossible and achieve goals that previously felt out of reach.
